village of Kovachevitsa
The spirit of Kovachevitsa
Every village in the Orpheus Mountain is a legend, an unsung song, an unfinished tale, an unfulfilled dream… And Kovachevitsa… Kovachevitsa is an unseen bouquet of all this… Nestled in the arms of the Western Rhodopes, with its specific architecture – houses built almost entirely of stone and wood, stone roofs and narrow cobbled streets, the village of Kovacevitsa makes us plunge into the atmosphere of the past and freeze in timelessness – silence, peace, inspiration and delight…
The magic is in the history

In 2013. In 2013, Nikolai Kondev’s grandson, Nikolai Kondev, restored the completely abandoned and dilapidated houses, and seven years later the houses got new owners. With a lot of enthusiasm, inspiration and diligence, and with the help of local craftsmen, the renovation of the base was carried out – reconstructions and construction of additional elements with preserved authentic spirit, bringing us back to the time of grandfather Nikola Kondev…
This is the place to share with you, dear guests, the magic of this place, the attraction of energies we “accidentally” fell into, and our little story… Kovachevitsa and the Kondevi houses were our favorite place to visit for months, they became a dream – we were creating a new reality for ourselves, persistently building our future mentally right here, in the Kondevi houses. Our lives are connected with shoe manufacturing, our longtime passion – the Arais Shoe Factory in Conde. Ares. Without knowing the history of this place, without knowing that grandfather Nikola Kondev was the local shoemaker, without knowing that in the ruins of the collapsed tunnel under the workshop were found shoe molds, tools and materials. Unknowingly, fate has brought us here to preserve and pass on to you the magic of history – the past that lives in each one of us.
